Restoration suits most sound tile roofs, but not all of them. Knowing when a roof has passed the point where restoration makes sense saves you paying to coat a roof that needed replacing, this covers where that line sits.

No and anyone who says otherwise is selling rather than assessing. A restoration is the right product for a specific set of conditions and outside those conditions it wastes your money.
Here are the situations where we decline the work and explain why.
When the battens have gone
Tiles are held by fixings driven into timber battens. Where that timber has degraded, whether through moisture, insect attack or the chemical breakdown of the lignin binding its fibres, it will not hold a fixing.

When the structure is moving
Visible sag along a ridge line, roof planes that are no longer flat, or widespread cracking that follows a pattern rather than appearing randomly all point at structural movement.
Coating a moving roof achieves nothing. The movement continues and reopens everything.
That is a builder or engineer conversation before it is a roofing one and we will say so.
When the honest answer is do nothing yet
This one surprises people. Plenty of roofs we look at are simply not ready.
