Roof warranty types explained
“Warranty” can mean very different things — here’s what actually stands behind your roof, and the questions to ask.

There are two main roof warranty types: a workmanship warranty (covering the quality of the labour) and a product or paint warranty (covering the coating or materials from the manufacturer). Powerdrive backs restorations with a 10-year workmanship warranty plus a 15-year Dulux AcraTex paint warranty — and the paint warranty is only genuine because we’re accredited to apply it.

Workmanship warranty
A workmanship warranty covers the quality of the labour — that the job was done correctly. If something fails because of how the work was carried out, a workmanship warranty is what stands behind it. Powerdrive provides a 10-year workmanship warranty on our restorations, which is a meaningful commitment: it means we’re accountable for the quality of the job for a decade.
Product / paint warranty
A product warranty comes from the manufacturer and covers the materials — in a restoration, that’s primarily the coating. Our restorations are finished with a Dulux AcraTex system carrying a 15-year paint warranty from Dulux. This covers the coating itself performing as it should over that period. Two different warranties, from two different sources, covering two different things — and a good restoration has both.
Why accreditation makes the warranty real
Here’s the part that matters most: a manufacturer’s paint warranty is generally only valid when the coating is applied by an accredited applicator, to the manufacturer’s specification. Powerdrive is a Dulux AcraTex Accredited Applicator, and our coatings are applied by Dulux-accredited registered painters — which is exactly what makes that 15-year paint warranty genuine rather than a hollow promise. An unaccredited operator using the same-looking product can’t offer the same backing.
The questions to ask about any roof warranty
Before accepting a quote, ask: is it a workmanship warranty, a product warranty, or both? How long does each last? Is the applicator accredited to apply the coating? And does the warranty transfer if you sell? Get the answers in writing. A vague, verbal “lifetime guarantee” with nothing behind it is worth far less than a clear, documented 10-year workmanship and 15-year paint warranty from an accredited roofer.
Does the warranty transfer?
A warranty that transfers to a new owner is a genuine asset. Ours does — so if you sell after restoring, “the roof is professionally restored and under warranty” becomes a concrete selling point you can pass on. It’s one more reason a properly warrantied restoration is worth more than a cheap coat of paint with no backing at all.
A warranty is only as good as the roofer
Ultimately, a warranty is a promise, and a promise is only as good as whoever makes it. A documented workmanship and product warranty from an established, accredited, well-reviewed roofer means something; the same words from a fly-by-night operator running permanent “50% off” deals often don’t. That’s why the warranty conversation and the “who are you dealing with” conversation are really the same one. With Powerdrive, the 10-year workmanship and 15-year paint warranties sit behind a real business, real accreditation and a real reputation — which is what turns a warranty from words on paper into genuine peace of mind.
