The cool, shaded, tree-lined blocks that make Kalamunda lovely also make it a moss factory, and on a north-facing restoration that growth is the first thing to beat. We treat it and give it time to die properly, clean back to sound tile, re-bed and re-point ridges the damp has loosened, then coat it in a system that copes with a roof that stays wet longer up here than it would on the plain. Get the prep right and it lasts; rush it and the moss just grows back through the new coat.
